Independent School Preparation (Year 5 & 6)
This course has been carefully designed to ensure that the students can approach their independent school entrance assessments with confidence, having developed techniques and strategies for answering the different question types. Each school decides the components of their exams and we have expert knowledge on the schools to understand their specific requirements. Our qualified teachers have also produced material for these exams which have been published with Galore Park.
The course comprises of the following:
- English (comprehension, composition, and SPaG)
- Maths
- Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Opportunity to develop their interview techniques
- Participation in group activities to develop their problem-solving, leadership, communication, collaboration, and time management skills
- Children will receive ample exam practice and plenty of tips and hints to help maximise their overall mark.
The children are taught in small groups enabling us to give individual support but also allowing them to work together with others. The course takes place during the summer term when your child is in Year 5 and continues after the summer holiday for twelve weeks leading up to the assessments. The course consists of 24, 2-hour sessions. To maximise the learning opportunities, we recommend that students join the course at the beginning, although it may be possible to join at a later stage if there are spaces available.
The Independent School course will run from Easter until November to ensure your child is fully prepared. Please see the details locations where we hold our courses:
- Thursday at 4.20pm – 6.20pm in Camberley, Surrey
- Saturdays at 11.30am – 1.45pm in Reading, Berkshire
- Saturdays at 11.30am – 1.45pm in Maidenhead, Berkshire
- Saturdays at 2.00pm – 4.15pm in Windsor, Berkshire
- Sundays at 11.30am – 1.45pm in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire
