Our 11+ Grammar School tuition courses
If your child is applying to a grammar school in Slough, Berkshire, they will be required to take the Slough 11 Plus exam. The exam pupils will take is the GL Assessment 11 Plus exam.
Teachitright’s award-winning 11+ Grammar School Course prepares pupils for the GL Assessment 11+, and is available at two levels, Year 4 and Year 5. Our Year 4 course is an introductory course that focuses on the core skills assessed in the GL Assessment admissions test. Pupils will build on this learning in our Year 5 course, ensuring they are well prepared for the English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning (VR) and Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) sections of the GL entrance exam.
Boys that are also applying to Reading Boys, can opt to enrol in our dedicated Reading School Course in Year 5. All children taking our Year 5 courses will also be well prepared for their admissions interviews, as we include practice interviews.

What does the Slough 11 Plus exam include and how are pupils registered?
The Slough 11 Plus (GL Assessment) entrance exam is made up of two multiple-choice papers taken on the same day, each lasting around 45 minutes.
The first paper focuses on verbal skills, covering comprehension, grammar, and verbal reasoning – key areas that assess how well students understand and manipulate language.
The second paper tests non-verbal and spatial reasoning, as well as maths, requiring strong logic, visual awareness, and problem-solving skills. Pupils record their answers on a separate answer sheet, so accuracy and time management are essential throughout.
Our 11+ Grammar School tuition courses are carefully designed to ensure that your child will develop excellent exam technique and question answering strategies for all areas of the GL Assessment 11 Plus admissions test.
Parents will need to register their children for the test via the Slough Consortium 11+ registration portal. Parents only need to register their child once and no late registrations will be accepted.

The Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools is a group of four grammar schools in the Slough area that have joined together to provide the same entrance exam. Children only need to take the test once, and their results can be shared with each of the grammar schools they are applying to within the consortium. These grammar schools are all co-educational and include; Herschel Grammar School, Langley Grammar School, St Bernard’s Grammar School, and Upton Court Grammar School.
