Our 11+ Grammar School tuition courses
If your child is applying to a grammar school in Buckinghamshire, they will be required to take the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test (Bucks 11 Plus). The exam pupils will take is the GL Assessment 11 Plus exam.
Teachitright’s award-winning 11+ Grammar School Course prepares pupils for the GL Assessment 11+, and is available at two levels, Year 4 and Year 5. Our Year 4 course is an introductory course that focuses on the core skills assessed in the GL Assessment admissions test. Pupils will build on this learning in our Year 5 course, ensuring they are well prepared for the English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning (VR) and Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) sections of the GL entrance exam.

What does the Bucks 11 Plus exam include and how are pupils registered?
The Buckinghamshire Transfer Test (Bucks 11 Plus) is provided by GL Assessment, and is made up of two multiple-choice papers taken on the same day, each lasting around 45 minutes.
The first paper focuses on verbal skills, covering comprehension, grammar, and verbal reasoning – key areas that assess how well students understand and manipulate language.
The second paper tests non-verbal and spatial reasoning, as well as maths, requiring strong logic, visual awareness, and problem-solving skills. Pupils record their answers on a separate answer sheet, so accuracy and time management are essential throughout.
Our 11+ Grammar School tuition courses are carefully designed to ensure that your child will develop excellent exam technique and question answering strategies for all areas of the GL Assessment 11 Plus admissions test.
Pupils that attend a state funded primary school in Buckinghamshire are automatically registered for the Transfer Test. If your child attends a Partner school, a school in Milton Keynes, or any other school, you will need to register them for the test.
Registration is open now and closes on 13 June 2025. You should live in Buckinghamshire if you want to apply for a grammar school place in the county, as they are very popular schools and places usually go to pupils that live in Buckinghamshire. If you live outside of Buckinghamshire and wish to apply to a grammar school in the county, you will need to register your child for the Transfer Test.

The Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test (Bucks 11 Plus) is used by 13 grammar schools, known as The Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools (TBGS). They are a mix of co-educational, boys and girls schools, including Aylesbury Grammar School, Burnham Grammar School, Royal Grammar School, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School and Wycombe High School.
